Frequently asked questions

How long does a forklift licence last?

The LF-class High Risk Work Licence is valid for 5 years nationally, then needs renewing through your state WHS regulator. Renewal is generally an administrative process and doesn't require re-sitting the full course, provided you renew before it lapses.

Is a forklift licence the same as an order picker (LO) ticket?

No. LF (this licence) covers standard counterbalance forklifts. LO covers order-picking forklifts, where the operator rises with the load. They're assessed as separate units and separate licences — some RTOs offer a combined LF + LO course.

Is training alone enough to operate a forklift at work?

No. Completing TLILIC0003 with an RTO is the training component. You also need to pass a practical assessment administered on behalf of your state or territory WHS regulator before the High Risk Work Licence itself is issued.
