Does my RSA certificate expire?
It depends on the state or territory that issued it. NSW and the ACT require periodic renewal (NSW: 5 years; ACT: 3 years), Victoria requires renewal every 3 years via a free online refresher, and Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, and Tasmania currently don't set an expiry on the certificate itself. Check with your state's liquor licensing regulator for the current rule where you work.
Is an RSA from one state valid in another?
The underlying SITHFAB021 training is nationally recognised, but several states layer their own card or registration requirement on top — for example the Northern Territory does not automatically recognise an interstate RSA after you've worked there for a period, and requires a refresher. If you're moving states for work, check with that state's liquor licensing regulator before you rely on an interstate RSA.
Can I complete RSA online?
Most states allow online RSA training and assessment. A few require an additional in-person component or a state-specific card application after completion — check your state's requirement before booking.
